First issued 40 years ago in 1971 and last made in 1978, the Eisenhower Dollar was struck in 11 limited—edition Proof versions during its short but glorious life, including five seldom—seen and highly sought—after silver issues. Now you can own all 11 in a unique "40th Anniversary" collection!
The story of the Eisenhower Dollar starts on July 20, 1969, when Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first person to set foot on the moon. With America caught up in "space fever," the U.S. Mint looked for a way to honor this world—changing event — as well as honor Dwight D. Eisenhower, the president who helped create NASA, the space agency that developed the Apollo program. Without his vision, the moon landing might never have happened! So Eisenhower and Apollo 11 were the perfect match to share a coin.
Out of issue for decades, this collection includes all 11 Proof coins graded by PCGS in matching near—perfect PR69 Deep Cameo condition. All Proofs were struck at San Francisco and bear the "S" mint mark above the date. Each coin is encapsulated with a never—before—seen "40th Anniversary" label that includes a color photo of Eisenhower as well as his facsimile signature. This unique "40th Anniversary" Eisenhower Dollar collection is not available anywhere else! Order yours now!
