Americans were never aware of all the shenanigans the CIA was involved with in Central America in 1950s, but we stumbled across a hoard of scarce coins that were struck by the U.S. Mint for a Central American dictator! The callous dictator was Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic, and the coins were one—year issue 1955 90% Silver Pesos struck to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his taking power. It's virtually the same size and weight as a Morgan Silver Dollar and features a bust of Trujillo and the Dominican Coat of Arms. When Trujillo was assassinated, his coins were melted ruthlessly, making survivors scarce today. We snapped up an entire hoard of 200 pesos before anyone else could grab it. Now you can get this scarce and historic issue in Extremely Fine (XF) condition and save big over what it sold for elsewhere. Hurry, it's unlikely you'll see this silver peso again.
