In 1967, Canada celebrated the centennial of its confederation by issuing a
commemorative coin that turned out to be the nation's last circulating
silver dollar. The Canada Goose Dollar — featuring an exquisite engraving
of a goose in flight — was part of a special series of wildlife coins.
Though it became one of the most popular coins ever issued in Canada, many
of these "geese" ended up in melting pots in 1979 and 1980 when silver
reached $50 an ounce. Today, these one-year-only commemorative silver
dollars are much more scarce than many collectors realize. This coin is
Canada's premier commemorative issue coin. Its beautiful, clean and
distinctly Canadian design make this silver dollar a must-have among
collectors of Canadian and wildlife coins.
