2009 First Concorde Flight Silver Dollar
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Concorde’s first test flight the Isle of Man has issued this spectacular 2009 Concorde Silver Proof has been struck. The Concorde was so fast that it cut the flying time from England to New York down from seven hours forty minutes to three hours twenty-five minutes! The coin depicts the Concorde in flight and five landmarks from the countries it flew to: The Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Statue of Liberty, Christ the Redeemer from Brazil and the Bahrain Trade Center. Struck in 95.8% silver the coin is a hefty 32.45 grams and 40 mm in diameter.
