In 2006 the U.S. Mint did something it hadn't done before. It released its first—ever Burnished Silver Eagle. Struck at the West Point Mint, these new Silver Eagles featured specially prepared planchets that gave the coins a unique satiny appearance. They also displayed the "W" mintmark. These new Silver Eagles were an immediate hit, and the mint struck them again in 2007 and 2008. Then, without explanation, they stopped. No W—Mint Burnished Eagles were minted in 2009 or 2010.
So collectors were surprised and elated when the U.S. Mint announced they were striking them again for 2011. After a long wait they've finally been released. And they're spectacular! Each coin shows that special unique finish that gives these Silver Eagles their remarkable eye appeal. We corralled a supply so you can get them here in quantity.
