This shimmering silver proof from the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates Canada, the host country of the 2010 Winter Games.
Struck in a one kilo of silver, this Series II commemorative features emblems of Canada's rich history, from the early French voyagers up to the founding of modern Canada in 1867.
Each silver kilo contains 1,000 grams (2.2 pounds) of 99.99% fine silver and is a huge 101.6 mm in diameter (4 inches).
Each is further enhanced by achieving the superb gem grade, assigned by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, one of the world's leading independent coin grading companies.
The coins are encapsulated in a sonically sealed holder to preserve the quality, and are identified by a special label assigned by NGC only to coins of the 2010 Winter Games.
Only 2,500 second-year silver kilos were issued. The first year Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Silver Kilo sold out and is now trading higher in the aftermarket.
