The Last Silver of Kaiser Wilhelm

This Five Mark Silver struck between 1913 and 1914 was Germany's equivalent of our Silver Dollar-except that it actually contains more silver than ours. It was only struck for two years and had a combined mintage of less than two million coins. The legend translates: "Wilhelm, German Emperor and King of Prussia," shows him dressed in a military uniform. The reverse features an elaborate Imperial eagle topped by a crown. We located a small quantity in Germany in Very Fine (VF) condition, and immediately purchased all of them, because we know how hard they are to find. Germany had to pay huge reparations after World War I, and these big silver coins were a source of funds to be melted down to pay the debt. And they were. Each comes with a certificate of authenticity. Don't miss this historic relic of a long-lost era! Dates vary.
