Part of the Wildlife Protection coin series, the 2015 One Ounce Campell's Hamster Coin features the critter face on in intricate detail. This is already sold out at the mint and is from the extremely popular Wildlife protection series. We were only able to secure 30 pieces!
It's legal tender coin from Mongolia and is struck in an antiques finish in one ounce of 99.9% pure silver. Only 2,500 were minted. The hamster's eyes feature two Swarovski crystal elements. The 2007 Wolverine issue of the Wildlife Protection series won the Best Coin of the Year award.
Campbell's Hamsters are native to China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia. They are dwarf hamsters, which in the wild, grow to about 3 inches. But, in captivity they can grow larger, because of the more abundant food sources. They eat vegetation along with small insects. They live in grasslands and semi desert regions. Hamsters also build tunnels and burrows to live in, with nesting areas as low as 3 feet below the ground. Many people have had a hamster as a pet. Campbell's hamsters are available as pets and make good small furry companions.
