Printing Error Creates One-Of-A-Kind Currency Set

Error coins can become important pieces of numismatic history, creating subsets that collectors can seek out for their collections. But even more difficult to find can be paper money print errors, featuring unique gaffes that each tell a specific story.

Take, for example, this fascinating three-note set, containing a 1969 $1 note, a 1977 $10 note and a 1977 $20 note. All three notes are classified as Offset Printing Errors. This happens when no sheet is fed into the press, resulting in an inked plate contacting the bed. As a result, the next sheet receives an overprint of both designs on a single side. The detail is readily apparent thanks to the pristine condition of these notes. It’s no wonder that upon close examination by Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) – the world’s largest and most trusted third-party grading service for paper money – these notes were certified and graded as being in Choice Uncirculated 64, 64, and 63 condition, respectively.

Notes like this are exceedingly scarce and rarely ever see the light of day – and almost never in a three-piece set like this! Even the best of us occasionally make mistakes – and the same is true for the fine folks at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) where printing errors sometimes happen but are few and far between. In fact, the Bureau destroys about 6% of all the money it prints due to it not holding up to its strict standards.

The absolute scarcity of errors that do manage to escape from the agency’s quality and control department makes this set a one-of-a-kind offering that can never be replicated. Reserve it now for your collection and you’ll have bragging rights for years to come!
