1860s Civil War-Era Bank Notes

These gorgeous Bank Notes from the Bank of America in Providence, Rhode Island, were printed by the American Bank Note Company but never issued! We recently purchased a small hoard of these historic and highly-collected obsolete Notes. While these Notes were being printed in Rhode Island, the Union and Confederacy were shedding blood on battlefields. The central vignette is gorgeous, featuring a woman sitting on a throne beside an eagle standing on a shield. Each Note will arrive in Crisp Uncirculated (CU) condition!

Remainder Notes That Were Never Issued!

Incorporated in May of 1851, Providence's Bank of America did business until 1890 when it was reorganized as the Bank of America Loan & Trust Company. The bank's original president, Adnah Sackett, is shown at the bottom left. A girl holding grain stalks is shown at the bottom right. Notes like this that were never issued and don't have signatures or serial number are known as "remainder" notes! And there won't be any left remaining of our small hoard if you don't act soon! Secure yours now because when these are gone, they're long gone!
