1963 10 XU Vietnam Paper Currency Note Uncirculated
Viet Cong Paper Currency Notes
The silky smooth voice of Hanoi Hannah filling the heads of American GIs during the Vietnam War wasn’t the only weapon in the Viet Cong’s bag of tricks. Far more insidious were paper currency notes like these that were printed by China in 1963 for “Charlie” and the rest of his VC buddies. The plan was for Viet Cong guerrillas to place these notes in circulation in areas that they controlled.
Notes Were Intercepted Before They Could Go Into Circulation
Unfortunately for the Viet Cong and their North Vietnamese allies, this particular cache of notes never made it into circulation. That’s because they were intercepted during a joint military operation between United States and South Vietnamese forces. The notes were “liberated” from an underground bunker in Cambodia, thus denying their use in whatever scheme the VC had cooked up to torment American troops serving in Southeast Asia.
These are fascinating pieces to add to your Vietnam War or military history collection. These 10 XU Vietnamese Notes are each more than 55 years old and are still in crisp, Uncirculated (Unc) condition. They’re sure to go fast so secure yours now!
