Athena’s Owl Gets a New Style – Extremely Rare Coin (Less Than 10 Known!)

What an incredible find! In the “bible” of ancient coins, this piece isn't even listed – few people even know that it exists!

Hundreds of years after the first Greek Owl Tetradrachms were introduced, the coin was updated to feature Athena in a triple-crested helmet on the coin’s obverse while the reverse depicts the famous Athenian Owl in a design more intricate than on any coins ever previously struck. The detailed design not only shows the owl sitting on a jug symbolic of Athens’ international oil trade, but it  features an extended legend that identifies the names of the magistrates responsible for its minting, as well as the year and month of the coin’s creation.

These “New Style Owls” are extremely rare – less than 10 of each are known to exist, and this may be the finest known of its type – each is certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) to be in About Uncirculated (AU) condition! Struck for such a short time, few of these have survived through the decades of trade and circulation. Who knows how many were lost over the centuries or lie at the bottom of the sea in an undiscovered shipwreck?

Holding an ancient coin like this in your hands is like holding history. It’s what many collectors dream about! Now you can bring that dream to live by securing your Greek Silver New Style Owl Tetradrachm!

  • FEATURES “NEW” TETRADRACHMN DESIGN – This coin was struck by the Ancient Greek City State of Athens with a difference appearance than previous coins. While the images of Athena and the Owl did not change, the more realistic and detail design on this coin is much more pronounced than older coins.

  • STRUCK IN FINE SILVER – Although not very precise, this Greek Silver New Style Owl Tetradrachm was struck in fine silver and weighs approximately 17 gm – a relatively high weight for this era.

  • INCREDIBLE ABOUT UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – Not only is it incredible that your 132-131 B.C. Greek Silver New Style Owl Tetradrachm has survived until today, but it has survived in About Uncirculated condition! That’s an incredible grade for an ancient coin and especially so for one so rare!

With such a high grade and such a rare example of late Greek coinage, it’s a wonder this coin even exists at all! Don’t miss the opportunity to add it to your collection!
