1815 Copper Andrew Jackson High Relief Medal NGC MS65BN
Show Stopping Medal Honors Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans!
On January 8, 1815, the British expected to separate Louisiana from the rest of the United States by taking New Orleans. They didn’t expect that the pirate Jean Lafitte would warn the Americans ahead of the army, allowing General Andrew Jackson to rally his militiamen and prepare for the impending attack. 4,500 Americans stood against 7,500 British troops -- and within half an hour, the British were retreating. 2,000 British men were killed, wounded or missing, while only eight Americans died in the fight, with just 13 others wounded. This was the Battle of New Orleans and Major Andrew Jackson lead our troops to victory.
