Stunning Bank Of America Stock Certificate
Prior to the Civil War, banks in the United States were not regulated by the federal government. Instead, they were under the jurisdiction of the state in which they were located. And, just as states in the North and South did not see eye to eye, each state had its own attitude toward banking, meaning banking regulations were not uniform across the country. Banks seemingly popped up overnight catering to the needs of local and area citizens while trying to make money in the process.
The First And Oldest Trust Company In The United States
One of these early banks was the Bank of America. Founded in 1853 as the United States Trust Company of New York, the venture was backed by a group of wealthy men, including 30 prominent New Yorkers, who invested $1 million in the company. U.S. Trust developed a list of wealthy clients and played a role in major construction projects, including railroads and the Panama Canal. Today, U.S. Trust is the first and oldest trust company in the United States.
This certificate features a stunning, very bold, very eye-appealing vignette of an Eagle in flight holding an olive branch and a U.S. shield, with a ship and train in the background. Each Stock Certificate features hand-signed writing from more than 130 years ago with signatures from a cashier and the bank’s President. Get yours before they’re gone!
