1869 25 Cent Double Struck and Rotated NGC PF64 RD
One of the Most Dramatic Double Strikes We've Ever Seen!
According to the Official Red Book of United States Pattern Coins, only six examples are known of the Judd 735 variant struck in Copper -- and of those, this is the only example we've ever seen that's not just Double Struck, but also Rotated in Collar, making it one of the most dramatic examples of a double strike you'll find anywhere!
Look closely at the reverse and you'll notice a prominently double-struck "2" in the denomination. Something this visible is incredibly rare, making it a delight for any collector.
What makes this coin truly interesting, though, is that the Standard Quarter was never a regularly issued coin. It was specially struck, and the greatest of care was taken in its creation. For a Double Strike of this magnitude to escape the mint in 1869 was unthinkable -- that is, until now! Comes graded as impressive Proof-64 (PF64) condition by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
