Carson City Mint Celebrates 155th Anniversary With Special Commemorative Striking

Founded in 1870, the Carson City Mint was built to transform the silver from Nevada’s booming Comstock Lode into U.S. currency. These 1870–2025 dual-dated commemoratives were struck at the historic Carson City Mint in a half ounce and one ounce of 99.99% pure gold, and one ounce of 99.9% silver. The half-ounce piece was struck on Coin Press No. 1, the first press used at the Carson City Mint in 1870. This historic press is currently on display at the Carson City Mint in the Nevada State Museum.
