Get this 1878 First Year Morgan Silver Dollar in About Uncirculated Condition

The Morgan Silver Dollar was authorized by Congress and was first struck in 1878. This first year example from the Philadelphia Mint is the Seven Tail Feather variety and is in the high collector grade of About Uncirculated (AU) condition.

When the Morgan Dollar was first released, eagle eye Americans noted a flaw in its design. The coin showed the eagle on the reverse with 8 tail feathers. The problem was, eagles always have an odd number of tail feathers. The mint quickly adjusted the dies and started striking this revised 7-Tail Feather variety, the design used all the way to the end of the series in 1921.

Collectors seek out first year issues in any series. This offer features the first year issue Silver Dollar from arguably one of the most collected series in the world, the Morgan Silver Dollar. This unique Morgan Silver Dollar is in About Uncirculated condition and great for any collector interested in Morgans and/or U.S. history. The 7 Tail Feather struck Morgan is especially sought after by collectors because of its unique characteristics on the reverse of the coin. See for yourself!
