Two Unique First-Year Morgan Varieties In One Sensational Set!

The Morgan Silver Dollar may be the most widely-collected vintage silver dollar in United States Mint history, but it sure got off to a rocky start. Several different varieties of the coin were struck the first year, including the two we’ve included in this set!

Small, But Critical Differences Create Unique Varieties

The “Reverse of 78” (Rev78) variety is identified by its eagle’s unnaturally flat, concave breast. The “Reverse of 79” (Rev79) gave the eagle a rounder and more convex breast appearance. The other way to tell the two apart is by the arrows held by the eagle — on the Rev78 the top feather is parallel with the rest of the arrows, and on the Rev79 that feather is angled.

Get both of these unique first-year-of-issue Morgan Silver Dollars now in a single set — each in Extremely Fine (XF) condition!

COIN HIGHLIGHTS:

  • TWO-PIECE FIRST-YEAR VARIETY SET OF MORGANS – This set contains two unique varieties of Morgan Silver dollars struck during the coin’s first year of issue in 1878: a “Reverse of 78” (Rev78) variety and a “Reverse of 79” (Rev79) variety.
  • AMERICA’S MOST POPULAR COIN – The Morgan Silver Dollar — so named for its designer, U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan — has stood the test of time. Struck from 1878-1904 and again in 1921, Morgan’s historic design depicts a profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse while the reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings.
  • STRUCK IN HIGHLY PURE SILVER – Morgan Dollars were struck in 26.73 grams of highly pure 90% fine silver and measure 38.1 mm in diameter.
  • LEGAL TENDER AMERICAN COINAGE – Each Morgan Silver Dollar was $1 legal tender.
  • EXTREMELY FINE CONDITION – Each coin in your 1878-P Morgan Silver Dollar Rev78/Rev79 Two-Piece Set will come in Extremely Fine (XF) condition.
  • THE CASE OF THE DISAPPEARING MORGAN – Despite millions of Morgan Silver Dollars being struck from 1878-1921, most were lost in circulation or melted down in mass silver meltings. In fact, coin experts believe that only 15% of all Morgans ever struck remain in existence today!

The Morgan Silver Dollar is the pinnacle of silver dollars for many collectors. People will spend entire lifetimes looking for single Morgans. Now, you can get two unique varieties from the coin’s first year of issue in 1878! Grab this set today!
