Fantastic GSA Carson City Morgans form the Fabulous Florida Hoard

Coin collectors love nothing more than discovering hidden caches of coins so when we caught wind of a secret hoard that had retired to Florida we dispatched one of our buyers there before he even got a chance to pack a bag. We’re glad we sent him so quickly because what he found was more than we ever imagined: thousands upon thousands of Morgan Silver Dollars struck by the famous Carson City Mint still in their original GSA packaging!

Hailed as the Florida Hoard, this is by far the largest hoard of CC Morgans we have ever come across. And with Morgan hoards today being so few and far between, we know that avid collectors will be creating a modern-day silver rush to get the best coins from this amazing stockpile of scare and hard-to-find Morgans.

In 1962, the United States Treasury found a mother lode of mint-fresh bags of Morgan Silver Dollars from the fabled Carson City Mint. In order to make these spectacular Carson City Morgans available to all Americans, the General Services Administration (GSA) held a series of sales between 1972 and 1980. Each coin was sealed into a large black GSA holder. Today, many collectors believe these holders were the inspiration for today’s “slab.” Over the years, most of these GSA CC Morgans have been removed from their original holders.

In this offer, you can get a five-piece set of Morgans dated 1881, 1882, 1883, 1884 and 1885. Not only is each still in its official GSA holder, but they have been certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) to be in Mint State 64 condition featuring attractive overall quality and pleasing eye appeal. You won’t be disappointed.

It has been estimated that fewer than 15% of ALL Morgan Silver Dollars ever struck exist today in any condition. When you add high grades and the unique GSA holder, there are even fewer.  Don’t let these coins slip through your fingers, Order your 1881-1885-CC Morgan Silver Dollar GSA NGC MS64 5-piece Set today!

  • MORGANS FROM THE FABULOUS FLORIDA HOARD -- One of the largest Morgan Silver Dollars hoard ever found, it’s one of the most valuable with a value estimated at more than $2 million in Carson City Mint Morgans! The value is so high because the collector who amassed this amazing stockpile had a real eye for quality and cherry picked only top-quality coins – those with solid detail and beautiful luster.

  • COINS COME HOUSED IN FAMOUS GSA HOLDER – All of the Morgan Silver Dollars sold by the General Services Administration (GSA) came housed in a distinctive black holder. While those holders have served as the inspiration for today’s coin “slabs,” many of the Morgans that were part of the original sales have been removed, making those still in their holders that much more scarce and hard to find.

  • KEY MINT MARK AND DATES – Morgan Silver Dollars from the Carson City Mint are the epitome of America’s Wild West. Struck from silver mined from the famous Comstock Lode, coins like these jingled in the pockets of sheriffs, outlaws, cattle barons and gamblers as they tamed the Wild West.

  • HIGH SILVER CONTENT – Each coin is struck in an ounce of 90% fine silver.

  • HIGH GRADE UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – ALL of the coins in the GSA sales were from bags of Morgan Silver Dollars the U.S. Treasury discovered had been stored in its vaults decades earlier and seemingly forgotten. Their discovery led to a series of sales between 1972 and 1980. These coins have the added designation of being in high grade Mint State 64 (MS64) as graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).

The Carson City Mint was closest to the source of the silver being used to strike Morgans: The Comstock Lode in Nevada. The quality of the coins struck there are usually the best of all. "CC" Morgans feature crisp strikes and frosty surfaces and are among the most desirable of all Morgans. And those in GSA holders like these beauties are among the most unique in the entire history of Morgan Silver Dollars!
