Celebrate The Walking Liberty Half Dollar's 75th Anniversary With This 18-Piece "Short Set"

The Walking Liberty Half Dollar series was struck from 1916 to 1947. In total, that works out to 65 different dates and mint marks within the entire series. This "short set" consists of nearly 28% of those coins, with five versions from 1917, including both versions from the Denver and San Francisco Mints, the 1929-D from the year of the stock market crash, the 1933-S–the ONLY U.S. Silver coin struck in 1933, most of the coins struck during World War II (1941-1945), and the last year of issue (1947-D).

Adolph Weinman's Iconic Walking Liberty design

Struck in 90% fine silver, these coins are affectionately known to many collectors as "Walkers." With its iconic images, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar is surely one of the most beautiful coins ever struck by the United States Mint. Lady Liberty is shown striding towards the sun, her right hand open and outstretched as if in invitation. In her left arm is a bouquet of olive branches. The coin's reverse depicts a stylistic eagle standing on a rock ready to take flight. A mountain pine sapling springs from the rock, symbolizing America. Famously designed by Adolph A. Weinman, the Walking Liberty is so iconic and beloved that it was resurrected in 1986 as the obverse for today's Silver Eagles!

Certified, Graded, And Encapsulated In Gem Uncirculated Condition

This patriotic design always proved difficult to strike, meaning that finding these coins in nice condition can be difficult. But not only have we put together a spectacular Short Set of this classic American coin, but each coin comes in nice Good to Very Fine (G–VF) condition. Even at more than 75 years old, the mint luster still pops off these coins! The 18 Walkers in this set include coins from three mints: Denver (D mintmark), San Francisco (S mintmark) and Philadelphia (no mintmark). The coins are as follows:

  • 1917-D (mint mark on reverse),
  • 1917-P
