1917-P 25 Cent Standing Liberty Type I AU
The Original Wardrobe Malfunction
Standing Liberty Quarters were minted between 1916 and 1930. But upon their initial release, the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice was aghast at the "immorality" of the coin. You see, in classic style, one of Miss Liberty’s breasts was exposed!
The guardians of prudery exerted political pressure and about a year and a half after it was introduced, and the coin’s design was changed. As a result, these second-year 1917 90% silver quarters are scarce and desirable today. Luckily, you can get one without fear of reprisal -- the Society for the Suppression of Vice is kaput! Each is in About Uncirculated (AU) condition showing "much detail."
Your Standing Liberty will arrive protected in a clear round numismatic capsule, housed in a deluxe presentation case with a certificate of authenticity. Secure one or more for your collection today!
