Defiant Eagle Says, “Don’t Tread on Me!”
This 1918 Banknote is the first and only large-size $1 note issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. More than 100 years later, less than one-half of 1% are believed to still exist! This large-sized “Horse Blanket Note” is eagerly sought-after by collectors, both for its unique size and the note’s unique design.
Now more than a century old, this vintage note features the familiar portrait of George Washington we’ve come to know and love, but he’s been set off to the side to make room for the name of the Federal Reserve district bank that issued the note. The obverse is completed with bold, eye-catching blue serial numbers and seal. The reverse is similarly impressive and where America can really be seen flexing its muscles with an image of a bald eagle carrying a U.S. flag in its talons like a war lance. Hailed today as the “Defiant Eagle” design, America’s national bird affected this aggressive pose to reflect America’s entrance into World War I.
Issued during the final year of the war, this note has survived in Fine (F) condition. It will also come displayed in a clear archival holder and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. No currency collection is complete without this first, last and only U.S. $1 horse blanket note! Get this rarely seen and highly collectible note today!
