What the Heck is JAPWANCAP?

During World War II, the Japanese empire expanded throughout Southeast Asia. To solidify their rule, they issued Japanese currency to citizens, like this 1943 note from the Philippines. Once the Allies forced the Japanese out, the Japanese War Notes Claimants Association of the Philippines (JAPWANCAP) was created to try and force local and U.S. governments to reimburse citizens for the notes, which were given an official JAPWANCAP stamp. An incredible piece of World War II history!

  • AUTHENTIC WWII ARTIFACT – The WWII Philippines 100 Peso “JAPWANCAP” Note is an authentic piece of World War II history. It represents a dark time during the war when Japanese Imperial forces swarmed across the islands of the Pacific Theater and attempted to assert their control by issuing their own currency.

  • LEGAL TENDER – NOT LEGAL TENDER – Your WWII Philippines 100 Peso “JAPWANCAP” Note was legal tender in the Philippines for a short time until U.S. forces re-took the islands. In an effort to pressure the Philippines and U.S. government to pay a fraction of the value of these Japanese-issued notes, each received a JAPWANCAP (Japanese War Notes Claimants Association of the Philippines) stamp as many remained in circulation after the war was over.

  • NICE LIGHTLY CIRCULATED CONDITION – Each WWII Philippines 100 Peso “JAPWANCAP” Note comes in Lightly Circulated condition with all of the original detail on the front and back still visible.

  • SCARCE AND HARD-TO-FIND NOTE – Most of these notes were destroyed once the Japanese forces were expelled from the Philippines and new currency was issued. After more than 70 years, these notes can be very difficult to find.

A rare Pacific Theater collectible, the 1943 Series WWII Philippines “JAPWANCAP” 100 Pesos Note is an awesome artifact. Add it to your collection today!
