Genuine Vietnam-Era Note
At the height of the Vietnam War, this note was in South Vietnam! This genuine 500 Dong note is one of few that survived when the South fell to the North in 1975 and most of the circulating paper currency was rounded up and destroyed. Best of all, it comes in Uncirculated condition, so the beautiful Bengal tiger and Palace of Independence designs are just as vivid and colorful as they were half a century ago. Each authentic Vietnam-era note comes in a protective display folder with an informative storycard. A perfect addition to any paper currency or U.S. military history collection!
- ATTRACTIVE IMAGES FROM A BYGONE ERA – The colorful note features the Palace of Independence on the front and a fierce tiger on the back. Independence Palace in Saigon was the home and workplace of the president of South Vietnam. Since the war, Saigon has been renamed as Ho Chi Minh City and the palace is now called Reunification Hall. Indochinese tigers stalked the jungles of Vietnam and occasionally startled GIs who stumbled across them while out on patrol.
- LEGAL TENDER CURRENCY – These currency notes were 500 Dong legal tender notes in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
- INCREDIBLE UNCIRCULATED CONDITION – Your 1960s South Vietnam 500 Dong Currency Note was discovered in a cache of notes hidden during the fall of Saigon. These notes have since become available and are in crisp Uncirculated condition with all of their original detail.
- SCARCE AND HARD-TO-FINE ARTIFACTS – When South Vietnam fell to the Communists in 1975 most of these notes were destroyed to remove and symbols of the South Vietnamese government. That left few of these historic artifacts for today’s collectors.
- COMES WITH BEAUTIFUL PACKAGING – Each 1960s South Vietnam 500 Dong Currency Note comes beautifully displayed in a protective folder that contains an informative storycard and certificate of authenticity.
