Mount Rushmore Silver Dollar Slipped by Under the Radar
1991 was the 50th anniversary of South Dakota's famous landmark, and to celebrate, the U.S. Mint at San Francisco struck this Proof Silver Dollar. It shows a view of Mt. Rushmore designed by Gutsom Borglum. This special proof had an incredibly low mintage of only 738,419, and it really slipped under the collecting-world radar. Today, they are very tough to find. It also displays the coveted "S" mintmark for San Francisco.
