A 50th Anniversary Salute to the USO

The U.S. Mint released a special commemorative to honor the 50th anniversary of United States Service Organizations. The group was founded to support armed services personnel with social, recreational, welfare and spiritual facilities. Each 1991-S USO Silver Dollar is struck in 26.73 grams of 90% silver and features a banner inscribed with USO on the obverse and the reverse depicts an eagle perched on top of a globe. Each is graded Proof-69 Deep Cameo (PR69 DCAM) by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Even better, each label is signed by its designer, John Mercanti. Only 107 of these signed Silver Dollars exist, and a limited number are left in our vault. Call today to secure yours!

Condition
Graded
Coins that are inspected, evaluated and graded by an independent, third party grading service. After a grade is assigned, each coin is sonically sealed in an acrylic "slab," preserving the coin's condition.
Proof
A specially made coin distinguished by sharpness of detail and usually with a mirror-like surface. Proof refers to the method of manufacture and is not a condition. Proof coins are struck on specially-made planchets using polished dies. Proof coins are minted primarily for collectors and are not released for general circulation.
Grade
PR69DCAM
The second-highest grade a proof can obtain, based off the internationally accepted 70-point Sheldon grading scale. A distinction of Proof-69 Deep Cameo, otherwise known as PR69DCAM, means your almost-flawless proof showcases an impressive full strike and indistinguishable imperfections. With quality well above of the majority of proofs in their respective series, many collectors prefer PR69DCAM-graded proofs for their balance of collector status and affordability.

Mint Name
San Francisco - S
Established in 1853 to strike coins from California’s newly-discovered vast reserves of gold, the San Francisco branch of the United States Mint is famous for the quality, lustrous Morgan Silver Dollars produced at "The Granite Lady" from 1878 to 1921. After moving to a new building in 1937, coin production at the San Francisco mint shut down in 1955. A shortage caused regular coin production to resume in 1965. While the mintage of circulating coins ceased in 1981, proof coins and commemoratives are still struck at the San Francisco Mint today.
