1994 5 Dollar 1/10-oz Gold Eagle Proof NGC PF70
A Year of Change for Gold Eagle Proofs!
From the start of the Gold Eagle Proof series in 1986, only one weight was struck at the West Point Mint: the one-ounce Gold Eagle Proofs. All other proofs - including these five-dollar proofs - were struck in Philadelphia.
That all changed in 1994.
Beginning with this special mintage, all weights of Gold Eagle Proofs have been struck at the West Point Mint, marked accordingly with the "W" mint mark. Their quality, of course, remains as unequaled as ever. Stuck in 91.67% fineness and containing a tenth-ounce of pure gold, these legal-tender proofs have been struck multiple times to achieve the finest finish possible. In fact, they're so well struck, they've been graded as being in perfect Proof 70 (PF70) condition by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).
They're the first-ever $5 Gold Eagle Proofs to bear the "W" mint mark - don't miss this chance to include one in your collection!
