The LAST Horse Blanket-Sized $20 U.S. Federal Reserve Note

Federal Reserve notes were issued by the U.S. government to all twelve Federal Reserve Banks, and through them to the member banks and the public. Since the notes were not issued by the banks themselves, the obligations to pay the bearer was borne by the government. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing released $20 Federal Reserve Notes like these in the large Horse Blanket size—7.4218 inches by 3.125 inches—from 1862 to 1914, before transitioning to smaller notes. The $20 denomination was less common than the $1, $2, $5, and $10 denominations.

Popular "Land, Sea, Air" Vignette

This 1914 $20 Note features President Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms in office. It also has a very stark blue seal and serial numbers. The reverse vignette, which is titled "Land, Sea, Air" and displays different modes of transportation of the time, is what really gets the hearts of collectors beating faster.

Certified And Graded By Paper Money Guaranty

While it's estimated that as much as 99% of these historic notes have been redeemed and destroyed, we managed to secure a small stash of these vintage notes—each one here graded by Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) in Very Fine-20 (VF20) condition, which means that even though they actively circulated in commerce, they show only modest evidence of circulation and no serious detractions.
