2002 1 Dollar 1-oz Silver Eagle PCGS PR69 Mercanti Signed
2002 Silver Eagle Graded PCGS PR69 with the Designer's Signature IncludedThis 2002 Silver Eagle is the specially produced collector edition Proof. Proofs are unlike the coins we carry in our pockets. They are minted with carefully engraved dies and specially prepared planchets and struck multiple times to bring out all the details, and to create frosted design elements and deeply mirrored surfaces. And, what a design! The American Eagle Silver Coin's obverse design is Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Lady Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended, and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse design is a rendition of a heraldic eagle by John Mercanti. This design was selected for the One Ounce Silver American Eagle, because it is considered to be one of our nation's most beautiful and classic designs.
This example graded Proof-69 (PR69) by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) also includes Mr. Mercanti's hand signed signature. It's on the coin's label and is sealed with the coin in the holder to protect the pedigree forever.
