America's finest silver is displayed in all its glory with the 2005 American Eagle Silver Dollar. Every year savvy buyers stash these away. Not only is each coin available here struck in stunning Proof condition in one ounce of 99.9% fine silver, but they've been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) as being in near-perfect Proof-70 Ultra Cameo (PF70UC) condition, a distinction that means these almost-flawless coins showcase impressive full strikes and indistinguishable imperfections–well above and beyond the quality of the vast majority of coins in the series!
Signed By The Legendary John Mercanti!
Each coin available here will also come sonically sealed in a museum-quality acrylic holder and encapsulated with an exclusive label that was personally signed by the legendary John M. Mercanti, the U.S. Mint's now-retired 12th Chief Engraver! A giant in the numismatic world, Mercanti has produced more coin and medal designs than any person in U.S. Mint history–including the Type 1 "Heraldic Eagle" design that appeared on Silver Eagles struck from 1986 to 2021.
About The 2005 American Silver Eagle:
The year 2005 was the 17th year of the popular American Eagle Bullion Program, the Act of Congress that created the Silver Eagle coin. Until this year, mintages of the Silver Eagle bullion coin had grown upwards of 10 million, but 2005 saw production dip significantly. Also issued that year was the 2005 Proof Silver Eagle, a handsome coin featuring a beautiful cameo finish. The 2005 Proof Silver Eagle was intended to be purchased as a collectible coin, and not generally circulated.
