2014-W Gold 50th Anniversary Kennedy PCGS PR70DCAM First Strike - Denver
Fifty Years Later, Memories Linger...In High Relief Gold
It's hard to believe, but 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the first coins honoring President John F. Kennedy. Millions around the world still hold fond memories of the first family and the youthful exuberance that John F. Kennedy brought onto the American stage. Today, to honor his memory, we are pleased to offer you these very special 2014 Three-Quarter-Ounce Gold JFK Ultra High Relief First Strike Proofs. Each features an image of the president that soars high off the surface of the coin, and is in essence, a work of sculpture in its own right.
Each High Relief proof is struck at the West Point Mint in one ounce of 99.99% pure gold-this is the first and ONLY time a Kennedy Half Dollar has been struck in gold. It's also the only 50th Anniversary Kennedy Half Dollar that features a dual date: 1964–2014. Each high relief proof is graded in absolutely perfect Proof-70 Deep Cameo (PR70) DCAM by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS)-and each label includes the coveted designations: 50th Anniversary, First Strike, Deep Cameo and the location from which the proof was purchased: Denver.
The obverse features the classic portrait of the original John F. Kennedy design on the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar. This image was the one that appeared on Kennedy's Inaugural medal of 1961. The late president personally approved of this design. Then, the reverse displays a stately image of a heraldic eagle and shield, holding an olive branch and 13 arrows. Only 31 of these gold proofs exist from the Denver Mint in Proof-70 DCAM with a First Strike designation on the label. Don’t miss your opportunity to secure a highly coveted commemorative honoring our fallen President.
