2015 France 1-oz Gold Washington before Boston NGC PF70
Washington Before Boston Gold Proof - 225 Years of History!
After the defeat of the British in the Revolutionary War, Congress authorized a special medal to be presented to George Washington. Its theme was Washington about to drive the British from Boston in 1776 - his most important first success against the foe. The reverse shows Washington with his troops. If the obverse looks familiar, that's because it is. It shows a bust of Washington similar to the one thats been used on the quarters we've carried ever since 1932. This Washington Before Boston medal is number two in the 100 Greatest American Medals and Tokens book. The original gold is housed in the Boston Library.
Today, you can add historic gold proof examples to your collection. Each is struck by the world-renowned Paris Mint - the same mint that struck the original 225 years ago! The exacting detail of these proofs is not a coincidence. The artisans at the mint recreated the design from the original dies still stored at the mint. The results are breathtaking - crisp frosted designs set against shimmering mirrored surfaces - stunning proofs that will rival any in your collection.
This historic striking is extremely limited. Each is certified, graded and encapsulated by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) in Proof-70 (PF70) condition and comes in a wood case with a certificate of authenticity and a story card. Add American history struck in precious gold to your collection today!
