The Rimatara Lorikeet is found on only a few islands in the South Pacific. In 2007, it was reintroduced into the Cook Islands to ramp up their numbers. This 2016 Silver Lorikeets Proof celebrates the success of the program, showing the bird in full color being spied by a bird watcher. The obverse displays a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II along with the date. Each proof is struck in one-half ounce of 99.9% pure silver.
