Finally, the Whole Picture -- and the First 50 Struck!

The Gallic rooster was first used as a symbol of France's revolutionary fighting spirit. It has served this purpose since the Middle Ages, and became a part of France's official seal in 1848. Now, the Paris Mint has released this 2016 1000 Euro Gold Rooster, the third in a three-year series celebrating the national symbol. A unique take on a multi-design series, the first year uses a close-up of the rooster's head, while each successive release "zooms out" to show more of the animal. This final release depicts nearly the entire rooster in all its glory, struck in 20 grams of 99.9% pure gold. Along the bottom is the French motto "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité" -- Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. In the background, the French flag is depicted, with horizontal lines representing the color blue, a lack of stripes white, and the vertical stripes on the right representing the color red.

Incredibly, we've been granted the first 50 coins by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint), each one officially designated as "One of First 50 Struck" by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and graded in near-perfect Mint State-70 (MS70) condition. Yours will arrive in a wood box accompanied by a mint-numbered certificate of authenticity and a copy of the letter from the mint certifying it as being in the first 50. Complete the set that you will be crowing about to your friends for years!
