Just as our Trans-Continental Railroad led to the development of the Western U.S., Russia's Trans-Siberian Railroad opened up vast stretches of Russia to settlement. To celebrate the accomplishment, Czar Nicholas II gave his wife Alexandra a Fabergé Easter Egg showing a miniature replica of a steam locomotive with five carriages attached to it. The train can be wound up and run with a tiny gold key. Today, the original Trans-Siberian Railroad Fabergé Egg is housed in the Kremlin in Moscow. These unique 2016 Trans-Siberian Railroad Egg Proofs reproduce the train images from the original egg. Using a six-element die, the coins were struck in the shape of an egg, with the train in the center.
