2017 Australia 1 Dollar 1-oz Silver Dragon & Phoenix NGC MS70 First Day Of Issue
A First-Ever Australian Dragon and Phoenix Bullion Coin!
This 1 oz. silver coin was struck by the Perth Mint, and is made of .9999 fine silver. This bullion coin is new for 2017, and the Dragon and Phoenix has never been issued before. Although this is its first time being offered, a mintage limit of 50,000 coins was set.
The detailed work of Ian Rank-Broadley can be seen on the obverse. In addition to the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, a variety of inscriptions are displayed. These include the date, face value, and silver content. The dragon and phoenix are depicted on the reverse -- the phoenix is on the left, and the dragon is on the right. There is a pearl of wisdom at the center of the design, and the Mint mark is displayed to the right of the dragon.
To have this coin graded and encapsulated, it first had to be submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Since it was sent as soon as it was released, it was given the coveted First Day of Issue designation. This is a perfect coin that received a perfect Mint State 70 (MS 70) grade.
