Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of an American Legend's Birth!

100 years ago, John F. Kennedy was born in Massachusetts. To honor the centenary -- or 100th anniversary -- of his birth, the artists at Pobjoy Mint have crafted this legal-tender coin struck in copper-nickel.

The 35th United States President’s accolades were numerous, but one for which he received much attention was his Purple Heart, earned during World War II. After his PT boat was rammed by a Japanese destroyer, Kennedy led the survivors to safety despite his own injuries.

To honor this heroic deed, as well as Kennedy’s other accomplishments, this Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coin will arrive in unique Purple Heart packaging, noting the 100th anniversary of JFK’s birth as well as the famous quote uttered during his inaugural address: "Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country."
