2017 Great Britain 10 Pound 5-oz Silver Queen's Beasts The Lion NGC PF69UCAM First Releases
This Silver Lion Roars as the First of the Queen's Beasts!
Britain's renowned Royal Mint has designed and released this 2017 Queen's Beasts Lion of England Silver Proof. It's struck in five ounces of 99.9% pure silver and has a face value of £10 (ten pounds). It's the first in a 10-coin series honoring Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II by depicting her 10 heraldic "Beasts." The designs for the series are adapted from a set of 10 sculptures prepared for the Queen's coronation in 1953.
This dazzling proof has been inspected, certified and graded as Proof-69 Ultra Cameo First Releases (PF69 UC FR) by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). It comes sealed in an acrylic holder for protection and also includes an official numbered certificate of authenticity from the Royal Mint.
Without a doubt, Queen Elizabeth II is among the best known and most beloved of the world's currently reigning monarchs. Her stately portrait graces the obverse of the proof, along with the legal tender denomination of £10. The reverse shows a magnificent lion with one paw raised while the other protects Her Majesty's Royal Coat of Arms.
The purity and weight of the silver used, in addition to the extremely low mintage of only 2,500 proofs, make this example extremely desirable to collectors around the world. In addition, First Releases issues like these are considered by many to display sharper images and more mirror-like surfaces than those struck later.
