This bold 2017 Lion Proof is the first in a series of 10 coins featuring The Queen's Beasts, a collection of mythical and real animals lifted from Middle Ages heraldry and portrayed on stunning proofs with frosted details and mirrored surfaces. This five ounce, 99.99% pure gold example is struck by The Royal Mint and is graded perfect Proof-70 Ultra Cameo First Releases (PF70UC FR) by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).

Only 125 were minted, and as an important distributor for The Royal Mint, we're pleased to offer you the very first coins struck. Coins at the very front of a production run are believed by many collectors to show the sharpest images and most deeply mirrored surfaces of them all.

The animals in the series are inspired by a set of sculptures created in 1953 for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
