A Huge, Colorful Tribute to the Brothers Grimm!
Struck from a full kilo of 99.9% fine silver, this massive 100 mm-diameter coin from the Solomon Islands is the ultimate numismatic tribute to the tales of the Brothers Grimm. In the center of the reverse are effigies of Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm, born 1785, and his little brother Wilhelm, born just one year later. The pair attended university together to study law, but while there began to collect folk and fairy tales. Eventually, they would publish several books containing these collected stories, including the world-famous "Grimm’s Fairy Tales."
Surrounding the brothers are beautifully colored depictions of five of their most famous stories -- Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Hansel & Gretel and Red Riding Hood -- with the central characters left to shimmer in their original silver. The entire coin is struck in fantastic high-relief, making it the perfect tribute to the famous storytellers.
