You'll Never Forget the Heroes of World War I with this Helmet-Shaped Coin!

Of all the technologically-advanced weapons developed during World War I, perhaps the most unsung development wasn't even a new idea. While machine guns, tanks, submarines, and aircraft lent new and destructive elements to modern warfare, it was the re-introduction of the helmet that, rather than taking lives, actually saved them during the sanguinary conflict.

For centuries, soldiers wore helmets in combat. By the 17th century, however, the development of muskets and rifles that could easily cut a man down from a distance meant that battles were no longer fought with swords, spears and clubs at close range. Fast forward to the beginning of the 20th century, and armor and helmets had become largely ceremonial. That all changed once the lethal mechanized weapons of World War I appeared. Beyond the high-powered rifles and machine guns, troops needed extra protection from flying shrapnel and rocks that ricocheted everywhere around the battlefield and in the trenches.

Now, to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the war in 1918, the prestigious Royal Canadian Mint has struck an incredibly unique helmet-shaped silver coin that looks like a miniature Brodie Helmet used by the Allies during the "War to End All Wars." Minted in 1.5 ounces of highly-pure 99.99% silver, this $25 legal-tender commemorative is a massive 88 mm diameter and features a deep recessed crown. The war remembrance phrase "LEST WE FORGET" is engraved along the brim of the coin beside poppies and the dual dates of 1918 and 2018. The obverse, or inside, of the helmet features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II deep in the bottom of the recessed circular crown.

Your 2018 Canada Lest We Forget WWI Helmet-Shaped Silver Coin has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as being in perfect Mint State-70 (MS70) condition, a distinction that means your perfectly-graded coin will have ZERO imperfections – showing all features and fields exactly as the engraver and mint intended. It also features a special antiqued finish that gives it an appearance of a helmet that was scuffed, creased and damaged during combat. Your coin will also come sonically sealed in an acrylic coin holder with an exclusive Canada label.

In addition, your coin will be certified as a First Releases (FR) coin by NGC, meaning that it was among the first struck by the mint and was verified within the first 30 days of issue. Collectors seek out these coins because they are produced with new dies and considered to have sharper strikes and deeper mirrors than those that are struck later. Also, the population of coins labeled First Releases is only a fraction of the total mintage.

From British Tommies to American Doughboys to Canadian Red Devils, the familiar steel helmet of World War I was an indispensable piece of equipment. Many veterans loved their helmets so much that they refused to turn them in at war's end and were allowed to take them home. Now you can take home a silver commemorative that pays tribute to the 100th anniversary to both the end of World War I and to all the brave soldiers who served by ordering this unique helmet-shaped silver commemorative. You will need to act fast – just 6,500 of these special coins will ever be struck. Add this piece of essential gear to your collection today!
