The Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) was first incorporated in 1670. A fur trading business owned and operated by enterprising voyageurs, its partnerships with First Nation, Inuit and Metis tribes helped turn the company into a fur-trading empire. The design is further enhanced by its Modified Specimen (SP) finish, meaning its brilliant image relief is struck against a matte or lined background in order to achieve maximum visual impact. Specimen coins are struck up to two times with mirrored devices and a satin-like finish.

The Mint has limited this release to just 100,000 coins for worldwide release.
