Struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% silver, the legal-tender £2 (two pounds) coin is the work of Chris Facey, who said he has been a fan of Queen ever since he heard the band’s song Bohemian Rhapsody played during the film Wayne’s World. Facey’s design, which features the different instruments of each band member, also features the famous Queen Logo. The design really does justice to the legacy and influence of the band and was officially approved by founding members Roger Taylor and Brian May.

Following his death in 1991, the band continued, but without Deacon, who refused to play without Mercury fronting the band. The band has not only inspired countless musicians but served as the basis for the 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody, which earned actor Rami Malek an Academy Award for his dynamic portrayal of Freddie Mercury.
