2020-W Uncirculated American Palladium Eagle
In September of 2020, the United States Mint's American Eagle Palladium Coin will feature an Uncirculated finish!
The American Eagle Palladium Coin program began in 2017 when the United States Mint released a one-ounce palladium bullion American Eagle. Subsequent issues have featured different numismatic finishes to the delight of collectors around the world. In 2018 a proof version of the Palladium Eagle was released, with a stunning reverse proof following in 2019.
The coins are struck at the West Point branch of the U.S. Mint and bear the sought-after "W" mint mark. The planchets used are .9995 fine palladium, with each coin guaranteed to contain 1 oz. of the precious metal. The coin will be released on September 24, 2020.
American Palladium Eagle Design
The designs featured on the Palladium Eagle Series are from the famous American artist, Adolph A. Weinman, designer of the "Mercury" dime and the "Walking Liberty" half dollar.
The obverse of the series uses the breathtaking Winged Liberty Head from the "Mercury" dime. A left-facing Goddess Liberty is depicted wearing a winged "Freedom Cap." The wings are a blatant reminder that the United States was founded with "freedom of thought" as a guiding principle.
The reverse design is similar in many ways to the Walking Liberty half dollar. It features the Bald Eagle as it pulls a laurel branch out of the rocks on a mountaintop. The image first appeared on the reverse of the 1907 American Institute of Architects (AIA) medal.
