First released in 1982, China's legal-tender Gold and Silver Panda series have grown into two of the most collected and hotly anticipated annual issues in the world. Renowned for their one-year-only designs, the China Pandas belong in every collection—especially when you can take home full sets with their mints of origin certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world’s leading third-party grading services!

This year also marks the third of the China Mint’s new “cycle” of Panda designs—meaning it’s a must-have for your collection!

The Secret Revealed
Dating back to the very first coins struck in the ancient world, minters have used special marks on the coins they produce to identify where the coin was struck. Today, these marks not only give us the coin’s place of origin, but also where it may have been since then and exactly how rare that particular coin is when compared to coins of the same date and type from other mints of origin. Two coins of the same date and grade, but with different mint marks, can see their values differ by hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector market.

In the world of China Pandas, however, 1987 was the sole year that Panda coins featured mint marks. Both before and since, collectors purchasing their coins from overseas could only guess at where their coins were struck. But in 2019, we found a solution—and ever since, we’ve been able to present out customers with coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), one of the world’s leading third-party grading services, as coming from a distinct mint, as well as full sets that contain one coin each struck at a different facility!

Coins come certified as being struck at the Shenzhen Guobao Mint (G), the Shanghai Mint (S) or the Shenyang Mint (Y). In previous years, the Shenzhen Mint has struck about 60% of the total mintage, Shenyang 25%, and Shanghai 15%. And now you can own coins from all three—if you act fast.

New One-Year-Only Design—The “Series within a Series”
Each new year brings a new one-year-only reverse design to the Gold and Silver Panda series. But starting in 2019, those designs have taken on a narrative feature—a “series within a series,” during which collectors will see a panda cub grow into maturity. The first release of this 10-year cycle was in 2019, with a design from respected artist Ms. Tong Fang. Ms. Tong has returned to design this 2021 release, and will be called upon again to design both the 2023 and 2027 release.

This one-year-only reverse depicts a young panda as it learns to climb a tree, helped by its mother. It’s a touching scene that shows a pivotal time in a panda cub’s life, as it learns to reach its own food.

Struck in 99.9% Silver and Gold
This new one-year-only design is available in a variety of weights and metals. You can secure single coins struck in 30 grams of 99.9% fine silver or 30 grams of 99.9% pure gold, or as a special mint-identified set that brings together one 30-Gram Silver Panda from each mint.

In addition, you can secure a three-piece set that brings together one 3-Gram, 8-Gram or 15-Gram Gold Panda from each mint, a five-piece Prestige Set that brings together one of each weight of Gold Panda (1-Gram, 3-Gram, 8-Gram, 15-Gram, 30-Gram) from either the Shenzhen or Shanghai Mint, or a massive 15-piece Prestige Set that brings together one 5-piece gold set from each of the three mints!

Certified Flawless with Special Pedigrees and Hand-Signed Labels
Collectors only want the best for their collections, and so we’re offering these coins and sets certified by NGC as flawless Mint State-70 (MS70) condition. Coins are graded on a 70-point scale, with a top 70 grade representing perfection, even under magnification.

In addition to a flawless grade, your coins will arrive certified as either First Releases or First Day of Issue (FDI). Coins with the First Releases pedigree have been received for grading within 30 days of the mintage’s release, and First Day of Issue (FDI) coins have been received within 24 hours of the mintage’s release. Only coins from the Shenzhen Mint qualify for the special FDI pedigree, and are additionally certified as One of First Struck within their respective mintages!

Every one of these flawless, pedigreed coins will arrive sealed in a protective holder with a label hand-signed by Tong Fang, designer of the 2021 Gold and Silver Panda one-year-only reverse.

Don’t Forget the Extras!
Each five-piece set certified as FDI will come with an official “First Day of Issue” mint numbered certificate of authenticity and an authorized letter from China certifying its FDI status.

All sets and individual coins will arrive with a colorful information booklet on the China Panda series and the three mints that strike these coins.
