Her final words were a defiant cry: "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!" Joan was posthumously exonerated, and in 1920, she was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Her sainthood was largely due to her unwavering faith, courage, and the miraculous nature of her life and eventual martyrdom, inspiring millions worldwide.
