Designed by Emily S. Damstra—who also created the Type 2 American Silver Eagle reverse—the reverse of each coin is a masterpiece of perspective and anatomy. The UHR effect pushes every muscle, tooth, and claw into full visual depth.

The obverse features the official RCM effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, surrounded by a subtle field of radiating maple leaves—a signature of modern RCM design.

Emily Damstra

A dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada, Emily Damstra is one of few artists authorized to design legal tender coins for both mints. A member of the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program, she has over 30 Canadian coins and a dozen U.S. designs to her name, including the 2021 Silver Eagle Type 2 reverse. Her background in scientific illustration and ecological storytelling comes to life in this Grey Wolf design—rendered digitally, then engraved into hardened steel dies using cutting-edge precision engraving tools.
