The history-making Wedge-Tailed Eagle series is back in 2025. After last year's 10th anniversary milestone, this one-year-only masterpiece, complete with towering ultra-high relief and delicate rose gold accents on select silver issues, along with an incredible Silver and Gold Bi-metal all showcase why collectors have been captivated by this series for over a decade.

The History-Making Collaboration Continues

Numismatic history was made with the introduction of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle because it was the first time a former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver (John Mercanti) teamed up with a foreign mint (Australia’s Perth Mint) to create a coin. The retired 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, Mercanti is also one of the most prolific designers in U.S. Mint history and is known for designing the now classic Type 1 Heraldic Eagle reverse that graced the Silver Eagle series for over three decades.

Now, over a decade later, the Australia Wedge-Tailed Eagle series continues to be among the most anticipated releases each year for collectors all around the globe.

Spectacular New Mercanti Wedge-Tailed Eagle High Relief Design   

This next chapter in the Wedge-Tailed Eagle story continues with a one-year-only Mercanti design that features an intricately designed image of a perched Eagle with impressive wings on display. The detail is so exquisite you can see every feather, from the bird’s gigantic wings to its powerful, fully feathered legs.

On the obverse, you’ll find the definitive Australian portrait of King Charles III, marking just the second time the King has appeared in the series, which before 2024 had always featured Queen Elizabeth II.

Struck in High-Purity Gold and Silver

These 2025 Wedge-Tailed Eagle coins are struck in a one ounce bi-metal comprised of high-purity 99.99% gold and silver ($50 Australia legal tender), or ten ounces and two ounces of high-purity 99.99% fine silver ($10 and $2 legal tender respectively).

Exquisite Proof Finish

The exquisite proof finish offers a much higher standard of beauty, quality, and craftsmanship than coins with non-proof finishes. Proof planchets (blanks) are specially treated, hand-polished, and cleaned to ensure high-quality strikes, then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck multiple times, unlike non-proofs which tend to be struck only once. The extra strikes give proofs a glamorous shine and make intricate, razor-sharp details of the design pop against polished, mirror-like fields.

Select 22-Karat Rose Gold Gilding

The mint has enhanced the two-ounce and ten-ounce silver editions with selective 22-karat rose-gold gilding along the rim and central design. The delicate gilding, combined with the ultra-high relief reverse, is the cherry on top of an already impressive modern collectible.

Gold & Silver Bi-metal

The 1oz Gold/Silver Bi-metal edition is a masterful blend of two precious metals—0.5oz of fine silver and 0.5oz of pure gold—united in a single, harmonious design.
