/ HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
A Symbol of Power and Healing
This coin was first issued in the 15th century during the reign of King Edward IV, at the Royal Mint when it was housed in the Tower of London. It became the dominant gold coin in circulation in England for more than a century as a small variant of the popular noble.
The Angel was associated with the divine power of the English throne. After “touching ceremonies,” in which a coin came into physical contact with the monarch, it was worn as a religious object thought to possess healing power.

A Classic Reborn in Limited Quantities
Production of the Angel stopped in the 17th century, and the Angel vanished into history for nearly four hundred years. Today this classic has been reborn in a modern re-imagining by Italian artist Sandra Deiana in a bold step for the Royal Mint. Mintage is limited on this captivating item.

Each Panda has been certified by NGC as a First Release (FR) specimen, meaning each was received by NGC within 30 days of the mint’s official release date and rated graded MS70 (the highest possible). Each is also legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.
