The Ultimate Morgan Starter Collection
Morgan Silver Dollars are among the most collected vintage U.S. coins in history. They were the Silver Dollars of the Wild West and represent the American spirit like few other coins.
This colossal 20-coin set is the perfect way to kick-off any serious Morgan Silver Dollar collection. It includes “firsts” like the 1878-CC and 1878-S, as well as the 1879-O, the first Morgan date struck at the New Orleans Mint. You’ll receive scarce mint marks, like the six coins included here struck at the Carson City (CC) Mint, responsible for just two percent of all Morgans Struck. That includes the 1881-CC and 1885-CC, the two lowest mintages of any CC Morgan!
Four of the Morgans in this set come from the San Francisco (S) Mint, which is recognized as having struck some of the finest Morgans of the entire series. You’ll receive a last-year 1921-P Morgan, and the low-mintage 1895-O Morgan, which had a mintage of just 450,000 struck.
You’ll even receive a Morgan certified as being in Proof-Like condition, meaning it has an incredible amount of luster due to being among the first few hundred struck from a new or newly polished die!
Sixteen of these Morgans come in Mint State grades, with grades ranging from Extremely Fine-45 (XF45) to Mint State-64 (MS64). All come certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and the entire collection will come beautifully housed in a sturdy 20-piece aluminum case along with a storybook of the Morgan Silver Dollar, a checklist, and a storybook on historic U.S. branch mints.
If you’re serious about starting a Morgan Silver Dollar collection, this is the place to start. We can only assemble one of these sets at this time, so hurry and order now.
- AMERICA’S MOST POPULAR COIN – The Morgan Silver Dollar – so named for its designer, U.S. Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan — has stood the test of time. Struck from 1878-1904 and again in 1921, it was the coin of America’s “Wild West” and jingled in the coin purses of gamblers, gunfighters, soldiers and dance hall girls.
- CLASSIC DESIGNS – Morgan’s historic design depicts a profile of Lady Liberty on the obverse while the reverse features an eagle with outstretched wings. The model used for Liberty was Miss Anna Williams of Philadelphia, who Morgan declared to have the most perfect feminine profile he had ever seen.
- STRUCK IN GLEAMING AMERICAN SILVER – Struck in 26.73 grams of 90% silver from the famous Comstock Lode, the Morgan Silver Dollar is a big coin 38.1 mm in diameter. When this coin was plunked down on a counter, its weight meant real money, pure and simple.
- LEGAL TENDER SILVER DOLLAR – Morgans were $1 legal tender and struck during the heyday of America’s Wild West era where coins were overwhelmingly preferred over paper currency.
- THE CASE OF THE DISAPPEARING MORGANS – While millions of Morgan Silver Dollars were struck from 1878 through 1921, massive silver meltings and the ravages of time have taken their toll. Today coin experts believe that only 15% of all Morgans ever struck remain in existence!
